ABRUZZO GRAVEL is a bikepacking travel experience that takes shape according to your choices.
A project designed to accompany you in the discovery of undiscovered routes, surprising panoramas, and places in the most authentic and lesser-known part of Abruzzo.
We will provide various tracks that you can freely combine, pair, and organize, creating your ideal itinerary.
AG26 allows anyone to select the route—or routes—that best suit their riding style and experience Abruzzo in a personal and informed way.
The itineraries wind through paths, dirt roads, secondary roads, and villages rich in history and character, immersed in natural landscapes of extraordinary beauty: an authentic balance where adventure meets hardship and together you are surprised by the territory.
Each route is like a petal: you can ride it alone or connect it to another, creating your own personal route.
All the petals converge at our HUB (base camp), a common intersection and reference point, from which every itinerary begins and to which every lap returns.
At the end of each stage, you can return to the base camp, open 24/7 and equipped with a tent or bivouac area, showers, and restrooms. Relax with a beer in good company and, if you wish, set off the next day for a new adventure.
AG26 is not a race or a competition: it's a gathering of friends, an opportunity to ride together, share the road, and enjoy a unique experience, each at their own pace and way of traveling.
HAPPY HOUR SOCIAL DINNER
Before the departure on Saturday morning, the experience will take shape as early as Friday evening.
After the welcome and pre-departure briefing, a convivial welcome aperitif will break the ice and officially kick off the weekend. Designed to welcome all participants, it features a choice of classic or vegetarian menus.
For the 2026 edition, the team will accompany you to the start with a gentle wake-up call, included in the registration fee: a morning snack to get you ready to go...

LIVE MUSIC - STREET BAND & TRAVELING MUSICIANS
To accompany every moment of the event, music will be the protagonist throughout the day: live music, street bands, and traveling musicians will enliven the base camp and common areas, creating a lively, spontaneous, and shared atmosphere.
Notes that intertwine with those returning from a ride, rhythms that welcome those departing, and melodies that provide the soundtrack to encounters, stories, and smiles: because ABRUZZO GRAVEL is also music, conviviality, and vibrations in motion.
HUB - BASE CAMP
The base camp (your HUB) will be set up in Popoli Terme, where you can pitch your tent or sleep in a covered bivouac with your own sleeping bag.
There will be restrooms and showers, and afterward, you can move on to dinner and the evening party, the perfect way to end the day in a convivial spirit.
ROAD TO ABRUZZO GRAVEL
Reaching the base camp is easy even without a car, thanks to rail connections and local transport services.
By train
Popoli Terme is served by the Popoli–Vittorito train station, a strategic hub for the following lines:
• Rome–Pescara
• Sulmona–L’Aquila
There are direct or connecting connections from Rome, Pescara, and Sulmona, with the option of transporting bicycles (always check the conditions of the railway company).
From the station, you can reach the base camp in just a few minutes, even by bike.
By bus
Popoli Terme is connected by regional bus lines to the main towns in inland Abruzzo and the coast. The main stops are located near the town center and allow easy access to the base camp.
Final stretch by bike
Once you reach Popoli Terme, getting around is quick and convenient by bike: the town is compact and easily navigable.
Choosing public transportation means starting your ABRUZZO GRAVEL experience with a focus on sustainability and adventure, traveling light and stress-free.
DEPARTURE
On Saturday morning, AG26 will depart from the Popoli Terme (PE) base camp, with a French start scheduled between 8:00 and 9:00.
At the end of each petal (route), you can return to our HUB at your leisure, take all the time you need to relax, eat, and rest, and then decide when to set off the next day for the second or third route.
During the trip, you can collect stamps and collect your event goodbye pack once you've completed the experience.
The goodbye pack will be available upon return on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, or directly at the departure point, at the dedicated points.
TALK - THE VOICE OF EMOTIONS AND TRAVEL
During the event, the program will be enriched with talks and meetings designed to inspire, inform, and create moments of genuine sharing.
There will be tales of travel and adventure, where cyclists and travelers will share emotions, experiences, difficulties, and discoveries along the way: authentic stories that speak of exploration, freedom, and encounters.
Alongside these more narrative moments, there will also be talks on mechanics and techniques, dedicated to bike care, travel maintenance, and the little tricks that make a difference when pedaling independently.
These are useful opportunities to learn, ask questions, and connect directly with those who truly experience the road.
A mix of inspiration and expertise, to enrich the experience even when you're off the saddle.
BIKE POINT
During the event, the Bike Point represents a true hub for hospitality and technical support, designed to meet the specific needs of bikepacking.
More than just a workshop, but a space where mechanical expertise, local knowledge, and a spirit of travel come together.
Here, participants can count on rapid mechanical assistance for emergency repairs—punctures, adjustments, inner tube replacements, etc.—as well as the sale of spare parts and accessories for tackling AG26's off-road routes.
NEWS FOR 2026
The AG26 edition promises to be even richer, more thoughtful, and more surprising.
Refreshments are planned for May 29th and an extra pre-departure mini-refreshment on Saturday morning, in addition to our OneShot Social Ride and Family Rides, designed to make the event truly open to everyone, even the little ones.
The technical kit will be included in the goodbye pack, and accommodations will be available starting Friday evening, allowing you to enjoy the experience calmly, without rushing, and with maximum involvement.
Wearing the jersey during the trip thus becomes a way to express your own style: more emotional, more institutional, or more socially friendly, making participation even more personal and shared.
